About the Role
Contemporary Dentistry PLLC is looking for a Dental Assistant to join our clinical team in Rochester, NY. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, friendly, and confident providing outstanding dental assisting services.
Responsibilities
Prepare and sterilize treatment rooms, instruments, and materials; ensure operatories are stocked, clean, and compliant with OSHA/infection-control protocols before each patient.
Provide chairside assistance during dental procedures by passing instruments, suctioning, mixing materials, and anticipating the dentist’s needs to maintain efficient patient flow.
Take and process dental X-rays and other diagnostic images; pour, trim, and polish study casts as directed.
Record accurate treatment notes, update patient charts and health histories, and maintain confidentiality of patient information in line with HIPAA and office policies.
Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, post-operative care instructions, and recommended products; answer questions to reduce anxiety and improve compliance.
Manage inventory and supplies by monitoring stock levels, placing orders, organizing instrument trays, and performing basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
Qualifications
NYS dental assistant certification preferred, but not required.
Previous dental assisting experience preferred.
Excellent hand dexterity a must.
Strong communication and patient care skills.
Familiarity with PMS's, such as EagleSoft, Dentrix or Open Dental.
Ability to stay organized in a busy clinical setting.
